I Wanna Know Thy Name
© by VENUS

Your beauty I admire, I do
Roughness around the edges too
Your sadness I feel your pain
I wanna know thy name

Your smile so gently you grant me
Yet the wrath I feel in thee
This centuries old chess game
I wanna know thy name

Oh, am I too, but to be
Another artist that painted thee
A quantity within this guessing game
I wanna know thy name

They say you have to be near death first
Oh, such ‘best-seller’ I do not thirst
Such darkness I’ve met and conquered such shame
I wanna know thy name

Although the golden leaf belongs to me
And the red one goes well with thee
Keep them both within art’s frame
I wanna know thy name

I want to see you walk gallantly talk
I want to hear thy speech in silence you teach
Oh, forget the candle flame
I wanna know thy name

The old the young and the small too
I want us all to hear it from you
I want you to declaim defame proclaim
I wanna know thy name

For what is Passion if it’s not from thee
The rest we call Love – Oh, leave it all to me
Through spring summer autumn and winter’s game
I wanna know thy name

I want the mountain to split in two
For Light of Peace to flourish through
The Sun the Moon and the Stars without fame
I wanna know thy name

Oh, Christ - I see Jesus in thee
The promise once made feels near the gate
The Shroud of Turin – Acclaim
I wanna know thy name.

His name He uttered not
Remains an abstract thought
But his eyes He opened and as I dwelt
Here’s how it felt:
from Une Fantaisie to O Holy Night.
