And So They Came
CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN RESCUE
Phoenix, Arizona - July 25, 2016

( I )

And so they came:
The Helicopter
The so called 'Ranger'
The so meant 'Search & Rescue' team
The Firefighters
Except that
There was No fire

I was dying
Yet, die I did not
We made it - We made it
To the top
And I did not sit
Standing at the highest peak

And the One we found there
Seated at the rock
Wasn't waiting for his flock
A voice tender a body thin
His hair was smooth and so was his skin
Topless dived into phone avoiding skies
He had kind eyes
Like the ones I portrayed in thee
For everyone to see

And 'How do we get back down - now?'
My son asked him raising the eyebrow
'Same way you came up - you walk' he replied
'Keep your eyes down alongside'
Unhappy with the answer my son then said:
'Can't we just call a helicopter - instead?!'

'Come here son', to my kid I said
'When you come to a mountain top' - I thought
'If no iron rod to whom you must pray'
'What's up God?' - you freely say

And he greeted God toward blue sky
And waited for reply
'Did He answer you back' I then asked him
'Nooo' he replied with a grim

'When God's voice you hear not'
'More work you have to do' I gave him a thought
'Until then you hit the road jack'
'Slowly but surely you go back'

And 'What's the point in doing this?'
I then asked loud
After I smashed down to the ground
Every goddess that ever stood still
On top of a mountain hill
'Whoooaaa' I made a sound
No Echo to be found

No water with me No bread
'It's lonely up here' I then said
'VENUS is my name
And this is not a game'

And God quiet remained
Free-standing I was self-contained
On my way back with cherries steering gear
Until death felt near

'Have mercy'
To GOD I then prayed for us all
After the downfall

( II )

And so they came:
The Helicopter
The so called 'Ranger'
The so meant 'Search & Rescue' team
The Firefighters
Except that
There was No fire

'Do you feel Hot right now?'
That first One that arrived asked me
After I took my shirt off furiously
'She's feisty', with a smile he told my husband
Who was talking on the phone in the air
911 was there

He then blessed me with water
Gently running down my spine
You can't call that romantic - yet -
Not even passionate

At the allergic reaction setting
Me myself and I - one dot
He believed - Not
His arms beautifully athletic - yet he looked Old
Ehhhhh - Heavy his breath - Behold!
Me charmingly he told
'I made it here before the crew - tweety
You can complain later - sweetie"

Though not see through he had blue eyes
I so wanted to punch him like guys
Afraid I was he may disappear
Down the cliff like a spear
Light as feather I thought he was
Hyper but Athletic - with noble cause

( III )

And so they came:
The Helicopter
The so called 'Ranger'
The so meant 'Search & Rescue' team
The Firefighters
Except that
There was No fire

With both hands closed and stiff
Barely speaking at the cliff
I urgently asked for Benadryl
No one believing me at the hill
On my shoulder a shot thereafter finally I got
No emergency medical screening received I
At the hospital no medical attention
My beautiful son and husband did
Thank God for right ascension

The taxi driver in English not much he could say
Until his sharp eye gave him away
'You look Middle Eastern' he said to me
Only then I noticed Black he looked and free
Covered in desert-dust I suppose flashed I a brand new profile
No more American nor European gentile

( IV )

And so they came:
The Helicopter
The so called 'Ranger'
The so meant 'Search & Rescue' team
The Firefighters
Except that
There was No fire

I was dying - not that Hot - just really dying
'With heels you climb Not'
Looking at my vomited cherry fruits
One complained about my mountain boots
'Heel this is not' - I objected
White Mountain Wedge impacted
'And you don't wear Black up here' he raised his voice
I then pulled down my top by choice
'It's Red underneath' I claimed
'Victoria's Secret' - my bra then flamed

'Where're you from?' - he then asked
'All over' - I said very fast
'Born?' - he frowned
'In Decani' - I kicked around

( V )

And so they came:
The Helicopter
The so called 'Ranger'
The so meant 'Search & Rescue' team
The Firefighters
Except that
There was No fire

'Hold my hand' - the woman told my son - scot and lot
He liked her Not
Pissed she got
'Not in a mood right now' she then avoided me
When I offered a hug for free
Though quite rude - reasonable sounded to me

My son started to look for treasure
For some reason got no pleasure
I found a 'penny' to him I brought
Happy he was not

'Can you give me more money now?'
He asked all pretty nurses without a bow
When naked they got him
Elohim
Though all had a glow
Mary - Mary Magdalene was the wonderful DO
In black like a dark knight she fought all the doubt
Patient respectful hinter
Suggested hiking in winter
One was pregnant and not at all frightful
Smiley sweet and delightful
'Your son doesn't want to talk - Autistic?'
Beastly asked the Talkatistic
No doctor in her I thought she strives to be
White mantle can't set you free
But then to me a chair she brought
'There's hope for her too' I thought
'No' I replied 'as if at gun shot'
'A talker - my son is not'
It's Ok - He doesn't have to talk to me
Said Magdalene Mary
Test results are reassuring
Heat exhaustion he's enduring

To rough Andrew my son gave no kite
Toward gentle Steven he was very polite

( VI )

And so they came:
The Helicopter
The so called 'Ranger'
The so meant 'Search & Rescue' team
The Firefighters
Except that
There was No fire

In - Over - Around
Camelback Mountain ground
'I'm so sorry' to them all I truly said
As sweat was dripping off their head
Like rain - no sadness - no pain
'It's Ok! I need to exercise more' smiling
One of them chose reconciling
Toward helicopter he held my hand
Inside I got eye - scanned

And there was One
Seated to pilot's right
Though he had me out of sight
Unknowledgeable handsome top gun
Second there to none
His calm demeanor pleased my eyes
My soul got a little treat
Amidst Life - Death and the Heat
And the lively pilot though expertly in N359FB
Flew beautifully tenderly

( VII )

And so they came:
The Helicopter
The so called 'Ranger'
The so meant 'Search & Rescue' team
The Firefighters
Except that
There was No fire

'Angel - I cried' my husband dear
Whispered to my ear
'I didn't know where you and the boy were'
He said in despair
'I hope you can forgive me for this one
I called 911'

Up there so handsome he looked
To climbing no stranger
Former Special Forces - Ranger
Still Active Duty - Infantry - at all time
Marching with grace and charm

( VIII )

And so they came:
The Helicopter
The so called 'Ranger'
The so meant 'Search & Rescue' team
The Firefighters
Except that
There was No fire

I was dying
And the People stopped to help us survive
Through internal and external drive
They offered water and compassion came alive

One though offered after a bottled water that other one
Re-fill from a tube felt like hired gun
Slightly bad the taste - it felt like toxic waste
Ignored my intuition my senses my God given alert
With faith I believed nothing much could hurt

Thereafter my hands got really stiff
No more love I could give there to any cliff
When like needles I felt pinching all over them
Thoughtfulness on my son's face marked diadem
'There's something in that water' to himself he said
I overheard as I felt dead
'I'm gonna carry you down' a smiley great hiker said to me
'No!' I said, ' I am heavy'
'It's a heat stroke' he continued helping through interaction
'No!' I replied, 'Allergic Reaction'

And the girl stood by me
So soft, kind, fragile, so free
I made sure, up there, she did not head
'Thank you love' at the end I thought she said
And a beautiful young couple I turned around too
'May all your wishes' I told them ' come true'

( IX )

And so they came:
The Helicopter
The so called 'Ranger'
The so meant 'Search & Rescue' team
The Firefighters
Except that
There was No fire

But Suffering, Love and We the People
I was dying
Yet, die I did not
'This is America'
I told them all while numb
For sure they will come

( X )

And so they came:
The Helicopter
The so called 'Ranger'
The so meant 'Search & Rescue' team
The Firefighters
The HEROES ♥

'Bless your heart' nurse Eva sounded like in Jonah'
'Welcome to Arizona'

'Wanna go again Camelback Mountain-ing?'
I asked both - men
The little one said:
'Never Again'

( ... )

And so they came
To help others so they left
As I touched the ground
I prayed they're all safe and sound

Up again had to go
Toward 44 Monroe
At
32 though 44 near 45
Every night here under the sky
Feels like
Christmas in July

'Sad Violin' - I listened to throughout nights
Embraced by enchanting City Lights
With over 100 degrees within
Wonder, O Phoenicians
What century the bird may be in
For PHOENIX is its name
And this is not a game..
